  • Foot pain

    Foot pain: Foot pain is the sensation of discomfort in the foot arising from disorders or injury to any of the structures in the foot including bones, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, or connective tissue. There are numerous and varied causes for foot pain, since the foot is an extremely complex anatomic structure made up of 26 bones and 33 joints along with 19 muscles and 107 ligaments.

    Causes of foot pain originating in the foot include broken bones, calcaneal spurs, plantar fasciitis , arthritis, and infections. Systemic conditions and diseases, such as peripheral neuropathy resulting from diabetes and peripheral vascular disease (atherosclerosis) can sometimes result in foot pain.

  • Floods in Pakistan - Health Cluster bulletin No 12 - 16 August 2010
    According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the number of people affected by heavy rains and floods has reached over 14 million population. So far, 1463 deaths and 2024 injuries have been reported. Around 900 000 houses were damaged by the disaster.
  • Floods in Pakistan - Health Cluster bulletin No 11 - 15 August 2010
    Based on the latest data from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the affected population is over 14 million. The number of deaths has reached 1 392 while the number of injuries has reached 1 985.
  • Floods and landslides in China - Situation report 2 -12 August 2010
    Torrential rains and floods hit China beginning at the end of May 2010 and continued until the first week of August. The Yangtze, Yellow and Songhua rivers have exceeded annual high levels. Affected provinces include Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guandong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Henan, Jilin, Anhui, Jiangsu, Chongqing, Shanghai and Sichuan. The number of deaths is increasing with each passing day, as more bodies are recovered. A total of 272 079 houses have been damaged.
